GROUNDHOG DAY (1993 MOVIE)

Groundhog Day is a day celebrated on February 2. According to folklore, if it is cloudy when a groundhog emerges from its burrow on this day, then spring will come early; if it is sunny, the groundhog will supposedly see its shadow and retreat back into its burrow, and the winter weather will persist for six more weeks.

A TV weatherman working for a local station in Pennsylvania (Phil) wakes up the next morning with the strangest sense of  living the same day over again. No matter what he does, he’s stuck in February 2, 1992.

The movie was great. It is well-written, well-acted, and very positive and moving. Though some of the scenes deals with depression and undertakes a series of suicide attempts, seduces women, steals money, drives recklessly, and gets thrown in jail, but at the end Phil (Bill Murray) endeavors to improve himself and became a better person.

It makes sense that the day is not a redo; it’s a “one more” chance.

Better watch it!
