A self-serving mythical creature’s bid for invincibility backfires when he finds himself at the mercy of a woman who can see otherworldly spirits. Son Oh Gong and King Woo Ma are in conflict with each other and they look for a true light in a dark world where evils exist everywhere. Adapted from the classic Chinese novel “Journey to the West,” but reinterprets the story into the present day and has romantic-fantasy twist.

This drama started with so much uniqueness because of the ravishing concept.  It has a mix of comedy, horror, love story and magic. The story is original and with a massive cast of actors gives a big plus in this drama. The actings are quite decent when it comes portraying their own characters. I like the two lead actors connection with each other, their presence highlighted the drama and the mix of seriousness and drolling are all well matched.

Korean Odyssey has the potential to be an ideal drama if the character of Seon-mihas emphasized lavishly but I feel dismayed. Her story seriously focuses on being in-love which became totally boring as the episodes pass.  They could have explored the mystery as what they have trying to fill and made her character more impressive to remember.

Don’t get me wrong, there are some pretty things about this show, it’s really hard not to watch but just like the rest, it has its own flaws. Despite, I truly enjoy the ride especially when it comes to feelings, friendship, decision making, sacrifices and a little twist of fate, this show is absolutely fantastic.

You better watch it.

Verdict: 9/10
