I went to Baku for my 4 days short vacation. Honestly, I really don’t know this country until it was presented to the UAE market.  Having a UAE residence visa can obtain a permit (visa) on arrival without a hassle and with the only cost of USD 26.00.

Baku is the capital and largest city of Azerbaijan. It is a country in the South Caucasus region, a crossroads of Eastern Europe and Western Asia. It is bounded by the Caspian Sea to the east, Russia to the north, Georgia to the northwest, Armenia to the west and Iran to the south. So it is a giant mix of cultures and has the influence from each region in regards to cuisine, religion, culture, etc.

Without anticipation, I am happy to like this place from day one till my last day. I observed that no one cares where you came from, but just a curious stare because of our looks (Asian). A lot of them asked where we came from and every time they learned we are a Filipino, we received a big smile from them. I have only seen four Filipinos during our trip.

I love the weather, it was so refreshing feeling the 19 degrees temperature from 40 in Dubai. I have never felt the danger while strolling in the city too, it was safe to walk wherever you want, can say hi and smile without feeling troubled. Beers and wines can be purchased from the grocery store, of course, you can drink anytime, anywhere in the pub, plus a lot of eye candy too, the best thing for my eyes (wink wink).

Indeed, what a wonderful summer break from hustling, bustling life in Dubai. I will share in the next few days some of my escapades in Baku, Azerbaijan, I just need to organize my photos.
