FOREST PIANO (The Perfect world of Kai)

“A tranquil tale about two boys from very different upbringings. On one hand, you have Kai, born as the son of a prostitute, who’s been playing the abandoned piano in the forest near his home ever since he was young. And on the other you have Shūhei, practically breast-fed by the piano as the son of a family of prestigious pianists. Yet it is their common bond with the piano that eventually intertwines their paths in life.”

I’m not a huge classical music fan, but despite this, this movie elevates my interest and it hits more notes in my heart that it misses. I liked the journey of our protagonist, from peeling the layers of what a musician must go through is quite relatable and at the same time, keeping the reality of living in a judgmental society gives more comprehension of his struggles and challenges.

The forest backdrops of this movie are excellent, it pictures out the paradise of nature with its magical qualities. The melody is warm and engaging. The characters are not hard to love.  If you are deeply enamored with classical music, this movie is just right for you.

Verdict: 8/10
