One Good Reason Why

We believe that everything happens for a reason.

I worked for two travel agencies for seven years here in Dubai. I resigned from the first one because of the toxic environment and the second one was due to the owner’s change of business plan. If I am still working in the travel industry at this time of the Covid19 outbreak, I would probably lose my job. So I realized that was the purpose why I never lasted those jobs, saving me to become unemployed for the year 2020.

Just last week, there was a job opening internally within our business units. Honestly, I want to move in the new space for a change of everything; the people, the work settings, new experience, and of course the salary. But one of our team members has been appointed the position, while I am stuck in my seat, God knows until when. Not that I am complaining, but I was hoping for that escape, for that change.

Why I wasn’t selected or promoted? Am I not good enough? Or I am still needed in my current position? Do I need more motivation, or am I lack of skills? A lot of thoughts lingering on my mind, though I know most things happen for a reason, and it may take years to discover why, I hope this is for the good. I am still cheering myself and convince to never be discouraged, this something is better than nothing.

As one of the saying goes, “Remember that everything that is happening around you, good or bad, is in some way conspiring to help you, and everything happens for a reason gives you a chance to reflect

  1. All things work together for good, I hope. I’ve learned two lessons: in the midst of disappointment is the ideal time to practice gratitude; and that you never know what kind of bullet you might have dodged.
