K-DRAMA (The Thieves/Dark Figure of Crime/Inseparable Bros/One day)

Here’s another K-drama blast from the Past.

Inseparable Bros (2019)

Shin Ha Kyun will star as Se Ha, a man who has a brilliant mind and an impressive way with words, which he uses to fight back against the prejudices of society. Lee Kwang Soo will star as Dong Goo, a man with outstanding athletic abilities and excellent physical health. The two protagonists each have a different tragic flaw: Se Ha’s weakness is his body, while Dong Goo’s weakness is his brain. Although the two men are not biologically related, they are an inseparable pair of close friends who have spent over 20 years together living almost as a single entity.

This movie made me cry. It proves that some friends could be as loving as your own family. The message conveys society’s prejudices for those people with mental and physical disabilities. This challenge us to be open-minded about them, change our old beliefs that they are incapable to be valued and hopeless. Inseparable Bros made me realize that love is thicker than everything.

Verdict: 9.5/10

The Thieves (2012)

Popie, the brain and muscle, Pepsee, an expert safe cracker, Yenicall, the wall climber, Zampano, the strategy head, and Chewing Gum, the master of disguise, decide to rob a 20 million dollar diamond.

The entire cast are all stars. The plot has all the elements for you to be entertained; action packed, comedic, clever heist and a twist. The pacing is fast with interesting characters. It’s quite a thrilling and exciting. Verdict: 9/10

Dark Figure of Crime (2018)

A fierce psychological confrontation erupts between a detective and a killer who confessed to multiple murders.

Since this movie is based on a true story, it’s quite engaging and disturbing. There is no over-dramatization considering some of the cases are unreported and unsolved. What makes this story compelling is the portrayal of the characters of the psychopath killer and the detective eagerness to give justice to all victims. It’s just so sad to know that so many amount of crime that never comes resolved due to various reasons and much worse, no witnesses and even justice lost its hope.

Verdict: 9/10

One day (2017)

The film tells the story of a newly widowed insurance investigator who is handling the case of a woman who goes into a coma after a car accident. He encounters the spirit of the woman when he visits her in hospital one day, and realizes that he is the only person who can see her.

One day is truly a healing fantasy film that might seem slow, but it will surely walk into your hearts. The characters are on top, and their acting skills are very compelling. It’s not hard to realize their battle and sympathize with them. Cinematography-wise is great and I love the shots of the sunset, in the hospital, and on the beach. I like their interactions and how they obtained their redemption. You should watch this film and love the life you have.

Verdict: 9/10

The Princess And Match Maker (2018)

Princess Songhwa (Shim Eun-Kyung) refuses her fate of marrying someone who matches her marital harmony. There are 4 men on her future husband list with different fate signs. Refusing her fate, she decides to leave the palace and find her husband by herself.

This movie doesn’t stress you out. It was fun to watch, quite entertaining and the chemistry is lovely. There was no major twist in the story, no tragedy, not much of lovey-dovey, sounds plain? Not really, it’s just pretty much typical movie but the princess adventure is a pleasure to watch.

Verdict: 8/10
